Though it's slightly out-of-town for many Kalamazoo residents this store is worth driving for. The staff has knowledge (or can yell for someone who does) on dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and probably most things you'd need supplies for. If you need a large bag of dog food (or anything else) someone will carry it to your car, or you can drive around to the service bay. Plus, if your hound or kitty is a hefty eater, there's a frequent buyer club. Pets are welcome inside the store, usually receiving a treat and a "good boy" pat on the head. This is a local, friendly, alternative to pet stores and chain marts with a superb staff.

Sadly, it is feared that our beloved Kraftbrau shall be closing. It is estimated that it'll be around December. Go there, if you can, while you can. Their landlords (according to local gossip) raised the rent, they can't afford the increase. Go. Soak up some live music.

This is probably one of the best breakfast/brunch places in Kalamazoo -- and one of the most Veggie/Vegan friendly. It is in a coffee house, on the second floor. The place has a small number of seats, but it feels both okay for a cute brunch date or a place to go after the pub. Its crown jewel is their menu: Crow's Nest provides diner food, salads, homemade soups, sandwiches, breakfast favourites, and more. Praise must be give to their consideration of Veggies and Vegans; we see warnings about items that may be cooked with/near animal products for the truly strict. If dining with a group of both parties, this is an eatery that will leave neither wanting. Clientèle depends on the time one goes there, they are open all night on the weekends, but is usually students living in the surrounding historical (but affordable) neighbourhood.

This would be great, if they weren't just a catering company. They, no doubt, provide awesome barbecue and grilled food, though for those looking for a place to get a bite of it, without a Bar Mitzvah or Wedding or similar, it's not available at Q It Up

This is a Cracker Barrel. 'Nuff said. For a breakfast, if you're on I-94 and looking for a place to grab a hot, served, sit-down meal for 30-45 mins, this is your place. If you're local, or staying in town go across the highway overpass, to one of the many gas stations located there. Ask the person for advice on where local to eat. They may recommend going west on M-43 or 'Red Arrow Highway' to a rural-ish coffee shop. They may recommend going east, toward town, and a place more urbane. Trust them and meet locals, not those passing through.
